Travis Fahey

Founder and Pipe Maker

Travis Fahey is the founder and pipe maker at The Pipe Lab. A passionate collector of pipes and pipe tobacco for more than a decade, Travis discovered his calling after attending the Las Vegas International Pipe Show for the first time. Captivated by the craftsmanship and artistry behind pipe making, he now handcrafts pipes in his Vermont wood shop. When he's not at the workbench, Travis is a full-time program manager in the professional services division of a top-three semiconductor company. With over 20 years of experience leading large, complex consulting and technology delivery programs, he brings the same energy, passion, and precision to The Pipe Lab.

Matthew Humphrey

Co-Founder and Manager

Matthew Humphrey is an engineer at heart. With deep expertise in design and formulation, his technical mindset extends into his hobbies, where he has earned national recognition as both a homebrewer and beer judge. Matt would rather design and build something himself than hand off the task, and his home and life reflect that creative drive. After more than a decade of collecting cigars, he turned his focus to pipes and pipe tobacco—applying his knowledge of recipe design and blending from homebrewing to craft his own pipe tobacco blends. A software veteran with over 20 years of experience, Matt has designed, built, and maintained production systems across healthcare, government, and enterprise environments. He used that same engineering excellence to build www.thepipelab.net and inspired Travis to take the next step in his pipe-making journey. Matt is also the driving force behind www.blendsmith.net, a place where pipe tobacco collectors and makers can track their collections and formulate tobacco recipes.
